Rail Line Corridor Committees

The concept of Rail Line Corridor Committees (a/k/a “RLCCs” or singular “RLCC”) has been in the WCGroup/LSSA arsenal since early in the days of the “CN Advisory Board” but was not deployed in the absence of a clearly articulated strategic plan for the CN/WC and Great Lakes Forests Region. The result of the CN’s “Wisconsin – Northern Michgan Branch Line Proposed Divestiture” became a de facto strategic plan when announced in late July 2020 with its first tangible event announcement on March 30, 2021 of the award of various CN/WC lines to Watco.

As a consequence WCGroup/LSSA, with local representatives, launched its first RLCC, the White Pine Rail Line Corridor Committee (“White Pine RLCC”), on April 30, 2021. The purpose of a WCGroup/LSSA Rail Line Corridor Committee is to bring together interested local stakeholders – shippers and public sector and other stakeholders – for discussion and concerted action. We expect that WCG/LSSA RLCCs will be mostly self-directed.

We expect the establishment of WCG/LSSA RLCCs will follow the pattern previously identified on the LSSA Wisconsin / Upper Michigan Rail Line Corridors Map.
